The nation's highest court is temporarily blocking enforcement of a 2014 Louisiana law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.
The case had been ruled on by lower courts before yesterday's 5-4 ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Critics of the Louisiana law contend that were the law to take effect, only one abortion provider would remain open in the state to serve upwards of ten thousand women.
The justices could consider the case again this fall.
