The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services is making an adjustment to how SNAP benefits will be issued in March.
The changes will be made to help close the gap for those who have been stretching benefits since January because of the partial federal government shutdown.
Recipients who usually receive SNAP benefits between the 1st and the 4th of each month will receive their benefits on March 1st, while those whose benefits come through between the 5th and the 14th of each month will receive theirs on March 2nd.
Should there be another shutdown in Washington, DC on Friday, SNAP benefits in March will not be affected.
