The wraps are now off of the future spending plans of the Edwards' administration.
The $30 billion budget proposal for Louisiana includes more than $100 millionhat would be earmarked for teacher pay raises and fattening the paychecks of school system support workers.
However, Superintendent of Education John White told the Press Club of Baton Rouge yesterday that Edwards' spending plan doesn't include a dime of the money needed to tackle a waiting list of 3,300 families for early child care and education. He says the expiration of a federal subsidy at the end of the year will boost that number to 10,000.
