The driver in last weekend's deadly crash on Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans could get more than 30 years in prison.
Tashonty Toney faces two counts of vehicular homicide, seven counts of vehicular negligent causing injury and one count each of reckless driving and hit-and-run.
Police say he was driving at a "high rate of speed" last Saturday when he rammed into several people, including bicyclists. They also believe he was impaired at the time.
The Krewe of Red Beans paid respects to one of the victims of the crash, Sherree Walls. Before the parade kicked off yesterday afternoon, the Treme Brass Band played a traditional funeral song in honor of Walls. The music later transitioned into a celebration of her life.
