Authorities are investigating a crash Sunday afternoon involving a Bell 407 helicopter that wound up in the Gulf of Mexico in the area of Lafourche Parish.
There was no immediate confirmation on the fate of the pilot and passenger on board the chopper, operated by the Houston-based Bristow Group, that was traveling between Galliano and Venice, Louisiana.
CEO Don Miller said in a news release that the families of those onboard the helicopter had been contacted and Bristow's highest priority was assisting those involving and impacted by the accident.
