The Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience is set to open on Howard Avenue in New Orleans in 2020.
The museum formerly operated in Mississippi before closing its doors in 2012.
A four-story building at 818 Howard Avenue will house the museum on the first two floors, while the upper two floors will be converted into luxury apartments. Museum officials say the museum help them tell a story that's frequently overlooked in Southern history.
