State Fire Marshal Butch Browning is encouraged that the number of fire deaths thus far this year in Louisiana are well below those recorded during the same period last year.
He announced yesterday that from January 1st through March 12th there were 17 fire-related deaths in the Pelican State compared to 30 during the same time frame in 2018.
Browning suspects the decrease is related to fire safety messages from his office and other fire agencies around the state.
