Jury selection is scheduled to get underway today in Baton Rouge for the trial of a man accused of murdering a Shreveport police officer in August 2015.

Grover Cannon is accused of the ambush shooting death of Officer Thomas LaValley. The 29-year-old suspect is charged with first-degree murder.

Once the jury is seated, the trial itself will take place in Shreveport with the state saying it will seek the death penalty if Cannon is convicted as charged.
