A just released study conducted by Loyola University's College of Law finds there's an alarmingly high rate of evictions in black neighborhoods across New Orleans.
The study covered the period from January 1st 2015 and June 30th, 2018 with a focus on Central City, Hollygrove, St. Roch, Treme and Little Woods.
Data shows that one in four renters in majority black neighborhoods experienced a court-ordered eviction during that time, while the rate was one in 24 in mostly white neighborhoods.
The report cites laws that favor landlords, low wages and rising rents as just a few reasons for the issues.
