There are several more hurdles to clear, but a bill is advancing in the Louisiana Legislature that could bring the reinstatement of three sales-tax holidays.
The measure cleared the House Ways & Means Committee yesterday and is now headed to the full House for consideration. It proposes the non-collection of state sales taxes on separate weekends for guns, hurricane supplies and school supplies.
Due to budgetary belt tightening, the sales tax breaks were cast aside years ago.
