Fox 8 News is reporting that the Army Corps Of Engineers may move soon to reopen the Bonnet Carre Spillway in St. Charles Parish.
A majority of the spillway's bays were open earlier this year to divert water from the Mississippi River into Lake Pontchartrain to ease the flooding threat downstream.
Corps officials now say forecasters are predicting the Carrollton gauge in New Orleans will climb to just shy of the 17-foot mark again around May 11th, and that could necessitate opening the spillway for the second time this year.
