A professor at Grambling State University who lives in Bossier City is attempting to sue Netflix, The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Studios, CBS, Comcast, Sony Home Entertainment, and Lionsgate for $10 billion over copyright infringement.
According to court documents released yesterday, David Louis Whitehead is seeking damages over claims his script entitled Batman Blackman was infringed by the defendants so they could make the 2018 superhero film Black Panther.
The character Black Panther originally appeared in 1966 and was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby to bring more African-American representation to comic books.
Whitehead claims the entertainment companies conspired together to replace his script's characters with existing ones from the Marvel Universe and infringe on several of his other ideas.
