Causeway Officer Gets Four Years For Stealing From Evidence Room

Ex-Causeway Police Department sergeant William Jones, Jr. will spend four years behind bars for stealing money, drugs and guns from the evidence room he supervised.

Jones has been charged with malfeasance in office and two counts of theft of a fire arm. All three charges carry a four year sentence, but the sentences will be served concurrently.

Reports say Jones allegedly stole $6,300 in cash, cocaine, and two guns from the evidence room three years ago.

In addition to his time behind bars, he must pay a $1,000 fine.
