Orleans Public Defender Employee Fired After Impersonating Lawyer

An employee with the Orleans Parish Public Defender's Office is out of a job for allegedly handling more than 100 cases without a valid law license.

Ashley Crawford was fired yesterday, one day after news broke that she had no record with the Louisiana Bar Association.

Public Defender Who Worked Hundreds Of Cases Not Licensed To Practice Law

She graduated from Loyola University in 2016 but never passed Louisiana's bar exam.

Officials say Crawford is now the subject of a criminal investigation by the Orleans Parish District Attorney.
