An ex-NOPD detective and convicted pedophile is facing news charges.
State troopers say Stanley Burkhardt was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.
The 69-year-old was released from jail in March after serving time for numerous sexual assault crimes in the 1980s and 90s while he was a part of the NOPD's pedophile unit.
Burkhardt's bail was set at $10,000.
