New Orleans police are reminding people who use medical marijuana they can still be pulled over for driving under the influence.
Officials issued the reminder yesterday following the state's legalization of medical marijuana earlier this month.
The NOPD says while treatment is now legal, driving under the influence is not and being impaired by marijuana is the same as being impaired by another drug like alcohol.
In addition, new state laws require a blood test from anyone involved in a serious accident which could put marijuana patients vulnerable to charges.
