According to the CDC, Louisiana is leading the region with the number of flu-like illnesses.
Louisiana falls into Region 6, which includes Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico.
As of last week, nearly 5% of all doctors visits were related to flu-like symptoms.
Experts say one reason that Louisiana is seeing high rates of flu-like symptoms could be attributed to low vaccination rates.
A free flu shot clinic will take place on November 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East Baton Rouge Parish Health Unit.
Another clinic is schedule on November 23 at a yet-to-be-determined NORD facility from 9 a.m. to Noon.
