The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says Southeast Louisiana is continuing to see higher cases of the flu than anywhere else in the country.
Experts say the virus is hitting hard months before they had expected it to, with patients reporting a fast onset on strong symptoms.
In order the mitigate the spread of the virus, the Louisiana Department of Health is hosting flu vaccination clinics across the state.
Vaccines are also being provided at any parish health unit.
