A deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Department is in jail following an investigation into payroll fraud.
Devaunta Ashford of Harvey was arrested yesterday for allegedly clocking in remotely for overtime shifts at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.
Officials on the case discovered that Ashford clocked in for overtime shifts 12 times and netted almost $4,000 in fraudulent pay.
Ashford, who was a 10-year veteran assigned to the Second District, has since been fired and awaits trial.
