Sewerage & Water Board Announces Plans For Drainage System Inspections

The New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board says it will conduct a complete inspection of every part of its drainage system over the next half-decade.

Officials made the announcement yesterday saying the review will cover just over 200 miles of closed canals and around 65 miles of open canals.

The department will begin with the oldest parts of the system first in areas including Broadmoor, Uptown, and Central City.

The inspections are not expected to interfere with customer's water service, but residents could see minor traffic delays as workers cone off sections of the roadway as they access the system.
