Ochsner Hospitals Welcome A Dozen Leap Year Babies

Officials at Ochsner Baptist and Ochsner Medical Center say they welcomed in more than a dozen Leap Day babies over the weekend.

Nurses announced yesterday that baby Paislee was the first to show up just after 3 a.m. and was later joined by several other newborns, including a set of twins.

Leap Day occurs in years divisible by four when an extra day is added to the month of February to correct the six hours longer than 365 days it takes the Earth to orbit the sun.

There is about a one in 1,500 chance of having a baby born on Leap Day with the next Leap Year set to happen in 2024.
