Number Of State Coronavirus Cases Jumps To 763, Now 20 Dead From COVID-19

The number of positive cases of COVID-19 coronavirus increased by nearly 200 over the course of Saturday, from 585 in the Louisiana Department of Health's morning update to 763 in the evening update.

Also, LDH announced four more deaths due to the virus, bringing the total to 20. Three were from Orleans Parish and one was in Jefferson Parish. All but one had underlying medical conditions.

More results are being reported from commercial labs at 2,008 compared to the state lab which has completed 1,294 tests.

COVID-19 Drive-Thru Testing In New Orleans To Expand Criteria

Anyone showing a fever and other symptoms will be able to be tested, Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced today. The changes will also be in effect at the testing center in Jefferson Parish.

Free Counseling Services Offered Through COVID-19 Hotline

The Louisiana Department of Health's Office of Behavioral Health is establishing a hotline to help residents cope with the coronavirus outbreak.
