Edwards Cautiously Optimistic About Louisiana's Coronavirus Fight

Wednesday Update: Louisiana Reports 17,030 Cases, 652 Deaths

The number of those hospitalized decreased a little from 1,996 to 1,983, with those on ventilators going down from 519 to 490.

Governor John Bel Edwards says the state is now on track to have enough ventilators for at least the next two weeks.

Edwards updated the pandemic numbers yesterday, saying he is hopeful signs are pointing to the coronavirus curve beginning to flatten.

On Wednesday, Louisiana tied its highest single-day death total at 70 but saw the number of hospitalized patients decrease by 13 with another 29 taken off ventilators.

There are currently still over 17,000 cases of COVID-19 in the state with the overall number of deaths at 652 people.
