The family of Louisiana State Representative Reggie Bagala says he has passed away due to complications from the coronavirus.
Bagala's son posted on Facebook Thursday announcing the sad news that his father had died at age 54.
Bagala took office in January and was in his freshman term at the statehouse representing parts of Lafourche and Jefferson parishes.
Governor Edwards released a statement praising Bagala as a devoted family man who spent his life working to make Louisiana a better place to live.
