LSU Interim President Tom Galligan says the University should be ready hold classes this fall.
Galligan announced yesterday that LSU is preparing to bring back another 25% of its employees this week when the state's Phase Two re-opening begins.
LSU has already been operating with 25% of its staff and hopes to have 50% back by next week and then gradually return fully to normal operations by the fall.
Galligan said face coverings and physical distancing would make things different on campus, but LSU will adjust policies and protocols as needed.
Meanwhile, students at Tulane University are heading back to campus beginning August 19th.
School officials say the newly announced date is five days earlier than originally scheduled so that the semester can end right before Thanksgiving.
Administrators add the new date was placed to reduce travel in order to promote health and safety.
University president Michael Fitts says reopening plans are still in progress but cited that it includes testing students as they return to campus and frequently during the school year.
