Hundreds of riders and float lieutenants say they are leaving the all-female Mystic Krewe of Nyx.
In a mass resignation yesterday, all of Nyx's non-board member lieutenants and a majority of riders left the organization.
The departures come in response to Nyx Captain and founder Julie Lea's alleged refusal to support the Black Lives Matter movement and promote women of color to the Nyx board of directors.
A statement released by attorney Ronald Morrison Junior said if anyone is unhappy with the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, they may resign and Mrs. Lea wishes them the best in their future endeavors.
