The manager of an apartment complex in Slidell is facing charges after police say she embezzled over $85,000 in rent payments.
Officials confirmed yesterday that 48-year-old Terri Smith had been arrested over the weekend on a single count of theft over $25,000 and was released after posting bail.
Smith was the acting manager at the apartment complex from January to September 2019 and was in charge of overseeing tenant's rent payments.
The complex's owners say a forensic audit led to the discovery of the missing money, and the St. Tammany Parish Financial Crimes Division then tracked the funds to Smith.
