Leaders for a group of local private schools are pushing to have "students physically present in school" for the academic year that begins next month.
During a public town hall meeting Wednesday night, the group said that they feel students learn and socialize better in an in-person environment.
The statement also reiterated an emailed letter to private school families outlining precautions schools would take to reduce risk of COVID-19 spread, which included social distancing.
City health director Dr. Jennifer Avegno said that while the collective group's goal was a good one, the possibility of in-person class depends on how people respond to rising statewide cases now.
