Today, city crews are expected to begin the recovery of the bodies of two workers who died nine months ago when the Hard Rock Hotel collapsed during construction.
Officials say recovery teams are to remove the bodies of 63-year-old Jose Ponce Arreola and 36-year-old Quinnyon Wimberly now that the collapsed structure is much more stable.
Initial recovery efforts for the remaining bodies were delayed as winds caused two cranes towering over the construction site to move, raising concerns that it could cause more of the building to collapse.
Last week, Fire Superintendent Tim McConnell said the recovery phase of the demolition had begun after a collapsed tower crane was removed last weekend, which he called a "significant" step in the long-delayed operation.
