Tulane Researchers Release New Information On COVID-19 Antibodies

Researchers at Tulane University are reporting that antibodies found in people who have recovered from COVID-19 weaken over time.

Experts at Tulane working in conjunction with Johns Hopkins University said yesterday that they have found COVID-19 antibodies in the bloodstream are reduced by half roughly every 36 days after infection.

Dr. Robert Garry at Tulane added that people who test positive for the coronavirus but show no symptoms appear to have lower antibodies compared to people who develop symptoms and become seriously ill.

Garry estimates a body could lose its COVID-19 antibodies around a year after first getting the virus, which would make it vulnerable to re-infection.
