Dixie Beer in New Orleans is now called Faubourg Brewing Company in honor of the diverse neighborhoods of the city.
The city's oldest brewery announced the rebranding yesterday after deciding earlier this year to embrace a name with a more inclusive, culturally-aware, and socially conscious future.
Faubourg is an ancient French term meaning suburb and was used in the early expansion of New Orleans.
Founded in 1907, the brewing company was located on Tulane Avenue until Hurricane Katrina and was later purchased by the Benson family, who moved it to a new plant on Jourdan Road in 2019.
