The Krewe du Vieux has decided that it will not parade in 2021.
Krewe Captain Sebastian Boegershausen said Friday that the krewe determined it would be irresponsible to produce its usual procession due to the ongoing pandemic.
Instead, the organization's sub-krewes still plan to participate next year and will display satirical art installations.
Krewe du Vieux's announcement comes a day after Mayor LaToya Cantrell told members of her Mardi Gras Advisory Council that Carnival 2021 will be greatly modified to follow COVID-19 guidelines.
