It's no-geaux for LSU and 'Bama this weekend.
The Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday that the Tigers and Tide matchup, as well as this Saturday's game between Texas A&M and Tennessee, would be postponed due to COVID-19.
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron said yesterday that several players would be unavailable for the game on Saturday because they had tested positive for coronavirus.
The SEC announced Monday that Auburn at Mississippi State would also be postponed.
“While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. “We must remain vigilant, within our programs and in our communities, to prevent the spread of the virus and to manage activities that contribute to these interruptions.”
The Auburn/Mississippi State and Texas A&M/Tennessee games are tentatively rescheduled for December 12.
LSU is already scheduled to play Florida on that date to make up another game posted by COVID-19. The SEC says that the opportunity to reschedule LSU/Bama will "need to be evaluated" and have floated the possibility of games being played on December 19, the day of the SEC Championship.
