President-Elect Joe Biden is naming a Louisiana native and 35-year veteran of the U.S. Foreign Service Department as his Ambassador to the United Nations.
Biden announced yesterday he was nominating Linda Thomas-Greenfield as the United States' top representative at the international organization.
Born in Baker, Thomas-Greenfield graduated from LSU and later served as Ambassador to Liberia under George W. Bush, and Director-General of the United States Foreign Service under Barack Obama.
Governor John Bel Edwards congratulated Thomas-Greenfield, saying Louisiana is proud of her service.
