Wildlife Officials Warn Of Sick Raccoons At City Park

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is warning visitors to New Orleans' City Park about diseased raccoons.

Officials confirmed yesterday that a strain of canine distemper is affecting animals in the park, making them behave erratically in a zombie-like state.

The affected raccoons are not considered a threat to humans but can spread the disease to dogs and cats, which can be fatal if the pets have not been vaccinated.

Park visitors are advised to keep their distance from the infected raccoons, which will appear emaciated, disoriented, and may have rough fur and discharge from their eyes and nose.
