A report by Husch Blackwell showing how Louisiana State University mishandled sexual assault complaints is being made public.
"We've been forced to take a hard look in the mirror, and to be perfectly clear, we don't like what we see," said LSU interim President Tom Galligan about the report, which he considered "painful."
The report found the school intentionally made it complicated to report abuse.
"Whether through our actions or inactions, our institutions betrayed the very people it was entrusted to protect," said Galligan.
The university has suspended two high-ranking athletic officials based on the report.
E-mails cited in the report also showed that then-LSU athletic director Joe Alleva wanted to fire former football coach Les Miles three years earlier than it did over "inappropriate behavior" with student employees.
Galligan vowed to the LSU Board of Supervisors to make changes.
"When it comes to something as serious and as fundamentally important as this, one failure is too many. And we have many more than one," Galligan noted.
