Baton Rouge Police Release Body Cam Footage In Koy Moore Incident

The Baton Rouge Police Department has released body cam footage of a November 2020 incident with LSU football player Koy Moore in a downtown parking garage.

The video shows Moore and another man hiding in a parking garage when an officer tells them to put their hands on a car. When they refused, one of the officers pulled his weapon.

Moore claims officers violated his civil rights in the encounter. BRPD Chief Murphy Paul said did not happen, but the men should not be criticized for making the complaint.

"We understand past pain and generational scars, and the last thing we want to do is to be mad and upset with them for expressing their emotions," Paul told reporters on Tuesday. "We want our community to be comfortable and to feel safe when they're filing a complaint, without any fear of retaliation."

"And at the same time, I'm asking you, please don't be critical of our police officers either. Give them an opportunity to grow from this experience," Paul added.

Two of the officers were issued letters of reprimand.
