Newly released details of a consultant's report into the explosion of a drainage pump turbine contradicts past explanations.
Officials said yesterday that the new report blames operator error for the December 2019 explosion of turbine #5 as it tried to compensate when turbine #4 went offline.
Initially, the Sewerage and Water Board said mechanical error led to the explosion, but the new report says a valve on the turbine was opened too late, causing a rush of gas that exploded.
