The National Flood Insurance Program is scheduled to raise its premium rates soon, and lawmakers are trying to prevent it.
FEMA's new pricing methodology, known as Risk Rating 2.0, is set to take effect on October 1. Many Louisiana homeowners who are existing policyholders are afraid their premiums are about to go through the roof.
Several Republican members of Louisiana's D.C. delegation, including Senator Bill Cassidy and Congressmen Steve Scalise and Garret Graves, are urging FEMA to hold off until September 2022.
