U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy is supporting new gun control proposals in the U.S. Senate.
The Republican says he got involved in discussions because he wants to make sure law-abiding Americans can keep owning guns.
Cassidy adds illegal gun violence is also addressed in the package.
Nine other Republican senators publicly support the agreement.
