Gulf Disturbance Increases Rain Chances For Louisiana

The disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico looks to bring higher rain chances and higher than normal tides to Louisiana, the National Weather Service Office for New Orleans and Baton Rouge said Wednesday. Southeast Louisiana is under a marginal risk of flash flooding through Saturday morning.

The system has a chance to become a tropical depression before moving ashore along the Texas coast, which will see higher rain impacts from the system.

There will be no local impacts from a potential tropical cyclone currently moving westward towards Central America. The National Hurricane Center says the system, despite winds of tropical storm strength, still lacks a closed circulation but could become Bonnie at any time.

There is no immediate local threat from a tropical wave in the central tropical Atlantic.

"Slow development of the wave is possible while it moves west-northwestward for the next few days," said the NHC. "The wave is forecast to move over the Windward Islands late Friday or early Saturday and then over the eastern Caribbean Sea by the weekend, where further development is unlikely due to unfavorable environmental conditions."

The 2022 Atlantic hurricane season ends November 30.
