Testimony Begins In Jason Williams's Federal Tax Fraud Trial

Testimony begins today in the federal tax fraud trial of Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams after the jury heard opening statements Tuesday.

Williams and his former law partner are accused of defrauding the U.S. Treasury of more than $200,000 in taxes.

Prosecutors say a tax preparer helped them overstate their tax write-offs and understate their income between 2013 and 2017.

The defendants face ten felony counts of tax fraud.
