Both of Louisiana's U.S. senators say an anti-gun bill passed last Friday by the U.S. House will be a non-starter in the Senate.
The House narrowly passed a bill that forbids citizens to buy, sell, manufacture, or own semi-automatic rifles, often referred to as assault weapons.
Sen. Bill Cassidy says the bill "probably won't even come up for a vote" in the Senate. Sen. John Kennedy agrees that the bill is dead in the upper chamber.
Both senators are Republicans, and are concerned with protecting 2nd Amendment rights.
