Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson may be on the verge of a citation for contempt of court.
Criminal District Court Judge Laurie White ordered Hutson to appear before her on Monday to explain why deputies failed to transport an inmate to a court hearing last Thursday.
Hutson was a no-show, and two representatives from her office went to court instead.
The judge says she's thinking of holding Hutson in contempt of court because her failure to produce the inmate jeopardized a plea deal.
Hutson says her office is short-staffed.
