Prosecutors and the families of murder victims are urging Gov. John Bel Edwards to ignore a flood of clemency pleas from Death Row killers.
On Tuesday, 51 of the 57 killers awaiting execution in Angola submitted clemency applications to the Louisiana Board of Pardons and Parole.
They requested their sentences to be changed from the death penalty to life in prison with no chance of parole.
Edwards opposes the death penalty and asked the state legislature to abolish it in April of this year.
