UL Lafayette's Archaeology Department is reporting the discovery of rare prehistoric artifacts in Louisiana.
A six-week dig in the Kisatchie National Forest turned up about 13,000 artifacts dating back to the last Ice Age.
Most of them were projectile points such as arrowheads and spearheads, and tools of hunter-gatherers, up to 12,000 years old.
But archaeologists also found somewhat more recent artifacts in the form of several wooden posts, which indicate something like permanent settlements.
