More than a dozen Louisiana residents have died because of the heat this summer.
According to the State Department of Health, 16 people have died from heat-related illnesses since the start of June, above the yearly average of ten heat-related deaths.
Health officials are urging residents to stay hydrated and stay in the shade or air conditioning when possible.
