The State Fire Marshal's Office is modifying the statewide burn ban.

The burn ban took effect on August 25 and prohibited all private burning with no exceptions.

On Wednesday, the State Fire Marshal announced that individual parishes are now allowed to opt out of the statewide burn ban.

In addition, fire chiefs can resume granting burn permissions, and live fire training can resume with written permission from the State Fire Marshal.

The modified order takes effect on Friday at 5 p.m.
