A suspect is in custody for the shooting deaths of a mother and her child on Sunday evening in Gonzales.
Ascension Parish deputies responded around 5:30 p.m. to a reported homicide in the Oak Village Mobile Home Park near Highway 30.
They found 41-year-old Christina Artus and one-year-old Kaylee Forcell shot to death in an apparent domestic violence situation.
Deputies arrested 39-year-old Kalvin Forcell of Donaldsonville on two counts of murder, burglary of a vehicle, auto theft, home invasion, and felon in possession of a gun.
