A prominent Louisiana Republican says he likes Gov. Jeff Landry's idea of sending National Guard troops to the Texas-Mexico border, but there's the cost to consider.
Senate President Cameron Henry estimates it will cost the state about $3 million to send the troops.
Louisiana has about 11,000 active National Guard troops, but Landry hasn't stated how many he wants to send.
Henry says the legislature will look into the funding, either during the regular session or the special session on crime.
